General Information about Garment Bags
|
It’s known
by a number of names… garment storage bag, rolling garment bag, suit
bag, tuxedo bag, bridal garment bag, even dance garment bag and closet
garment bag… whatever name you give to it, a wheeled garment bag or
hanging garment bag is a great addition to your luggage collection.
For many business travelers, a carry-on
garment bag or wheeled garment bag is an essential piece of luggage.
For leisure travelers, garment bags keep formal clothing neat, relatively
wrinkle free, and easy to access, and are available in several styles
and every price range.
The true definition of a garment bag
is “A long zippered bag used to carry and protect suits, dresses, and
coats when traveling.” If you ask a typical traveler, however, you may
receive as many meanings as types of garment bags.
The general understanding of a garment
bag is a piece of luggage, of a wheeled, bi-fold or tri-fold design,
meant to carry suits, dresses, or other garments needing to be hung.
Children's garment bags are starting to gain
some popularity in the luggage world. Smaller than a typical adult garment
bag, a child garment bag, designed to fit children’s clothing, is a
novel idea, but not yet practical.
The problem lies not in the design
of the bag, but in getting your child to tote them through the airport,
which can be quite a task after a long flight. An alternative to this
would be a smaller upright piece of luggage with a suiter. These options
will be discussed in upcoming articles.
